In order to adapt to and minimize the effect of these changes, WetCollect enables wetland delineators access to all 10 Regional Supplements in a single application via a highly intuitive touch screen interface. Based upon the location of your site, regionalized information, including vegetation, hydrology, and hydric soil indicators will populate the handheld form enhancing efficiency and accuracy in reporting.
At start up, WetCollect provides entry fields for pertinent project information. After selecting the state where you are performing a wetland delineation, a list of Regional Supplements in use within that state appears. The delineator simply selects the appropriate Regional Manual for the project area. General information required by the COE, including landform, local relief, slope percentage, and NWI Classification are selected from drop down menus. Subregion lists (LRR and MLRA) are generated from the Regional Supplement identified when starting the data sheet. Integrated GPS functionality is provided for establishing Latitude and Longitude for each data station.
Indicators of Hydrology
The selected Regional Manual populates the list of hydrology indicators appropriate for the delineation project area. Primary and Secondary indicators are presented in a list with selectable check boxes along with editable fields for entering surface water, water table, and saturation depth observations. Wetland Hydrology is automatically calculated by WetCollect based upon the indicators selected. Summary information is provided for reviewing the final results.
Indicators of Hydrophytic Vegetation
The selection of the appropriate manual also identifies the USFWS/COE regional plant list required for use during the delineation. Plants applicable to the queried region are searchable by both scientific name and common name. Each selected species can be entered across all stratum. Dominance Test and Prevalence Index Calculations are performed automatically by WetCollect during the selection of species. Summary information is provided after all vegetation has been entered and if errors are made while entering vegetation, an easy to use editing function is provided for correcting the mistakes.
Hydric Soil Indicators
Last but not least, soil information is collected via easy to use drop down menus which contain all soil color representations within the Munsell soil color charts, redoximorphic feature classifications (type, location, and percentage) required by the Supplemental manuals, and textures represented within the USDA soil texture triangle. The selected Regional Manual populates the list of hydric soil indicators appropriate for the delineation project area. Hydric Soil Indicators and Indicators for Problematic Hydric Soils identified by the NTCHS within the selected region are presented in a list with selectable check boxes with indication of applicable LRRs and MLRAs. The presence of Hydric Soils is automatically calculated by WetCollect based upon indicators selected. Summary information is provided after all soils information has been entered, and similar to vegetation entry, if errors are made while entering soil profile descriptions, an easy to use editing function is provided for correcting the mistakes.
Wetland Summary Information
Summary information is provided on a seperate tab after all sample plot data has been entered, easily allowing the user to view determination results with a touch of the screen. Summary results can also be viewed during collection of the sample plot data with a simple toggle between the summary tab and the hydrology, vegetation, and soils tabs.
Syncing Regional Supplement Data Forms
With a click of the Sync button, the delineation data collected in the field with WetCollect is transmitted to a secure personal website. WetCollect users can then easily access their data and print, email, or save their updated regional wetland delineation data form as a PDF from the WetCollect WebPortal. The Web Portal also allows additional plant species to be added per region. The additional plant species will be imported into your handheld device upon the next Sync. The Sync process allows for seamless, un-intrusive updates to the supplemental data forms as well.
